Konzerthaus Berlin
Co-operation Partner of Young Euro Classic
It has always been one of the top priorities for Berlin’s Konzerthaus to do everything it can to promote the up-and-coming generation: a commitment that encompasses both young musicians and young audiences. Our efforts in this respect, which are supported in exemplary fashion by the musicians who make up the Konzerthaus Orchestra, have been further strengthened and extended under the principal conductor Lothar Zagrosek. Alongside international cooperations – such as with the renowned piano academy in the Italian town of Imola – as well as the wide-ranging and fruitful cooperation with our close neighbour here in central Berlin, the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler, the Konzerthaus Orchestra was also able to make a great leap forward by taking up a central role in the project ”Going on the Offensive with Cultural Education“ which was initiated by the Berlin Council for the Arts.
The Konzerthaus views its close and continued cooperation with
Young Euro Classic as very much part of its efforts in this respect. This exceptional festival has established itself as a major event with a reputation that extends far beyond the confines of Berlin. Each year it brings together enthusiastic audiences and outstanding international youth orchestras in the Konzerthaus. The idea is brilliantly simple, it sets high standards, and it is audience-friendly. What is more: it is a winner – as the audience figures clearly show.
In the first two years of the festival the Konzerthaus was ”merely“ the venue
for the concerts. But as the years have gone by it has become a delightful and
inspiring obligation for us to play a fuller role as a cooperation partner in the
running and organisation of the festival. Young Euro Classic does much more
than simply fill a gap in Berlin’s otherwise rather sparse summertime music program: for the Konzerthaus, this festival represents a joyous and highly
welcome overture to our new season.
