Young Euro Classic South Eastern Europe - A Success Story

Young Euro Classic Orchestra South Eastern Europe promotes the concepts of reconciliation and understanding. Young musicians from the seven nations of the former Yugoslavia met with music students from Germany and together, they made a valuable contribution to a shared future. During an intensive rehearsal phase under the baton of Liana Isakadze, the musicians worked on pieces by Haydn, Mozart and Vivaldi, as well as a new composition by Jelena Dabić. This year’s tour brought the musicians to the Konzerthaus in Berlin and the Martinskirche in Kassel.

Growing Together

It was 2009 when 17 young music students met for the first time as part of a project sponsored by the German Foreign Office, titled “Spiegelklänge”, or “Mirror Sounds”. The resulting string ensemble went on to conduct a successful tour of the Western Balkans. In 2010, the small orchestra grew to symphonic proportions and conducted a much-lauded tour of Berlin and locations along the Mediterranean coast. The youth orchestra that has been created over the last two years has evolved into one of the most interesting international music projects in Europe, as part of the Young Euro Classic Festival.

An Audience Orchestra

The symphony orchestra Young Euro Classic Festival Orchestra South Eastern Europe owed its existence in the summer of 2010 to donations from the Young Euro Classic audience. As a gesture of thanks, the young musicians performed an unforgettable concert for "their" audience.
