Nina Šenk

Nina Šenk was born in Slovenia in 1982. Following her studies in composition at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, she went on to study at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden and also completed post graduate studies with Prof. Matthias Pintscher at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Munich. To date, her compositions have been performed on more than 150 occasions in Europe, the US and China. At the Young Euro Classic festival 2004, she was awarded the European Composer Award.

In the summers of 2006 and 2007, her hymn Navitas was performed at all festival concerts. Since then, the composer received further commissions from the Kassel Festival of Contemporary Music, the Heidelberg Spring International Music Festival and the Weimar Spring Festival of Contemporary Music, where she wo first prize for her piece Movimento fluido. Since 2008, Nina Šenk has been living as a freelance composer in Berlin and Slovenia.
