The Youth Philharmonic Azerbaijan was founded in 2008, prompted by an invitation to take part in Young Euro Classic and with the support of several ensembles within the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Azerbaijan – the Symphony, Chamber and Youth Orchestras. The ensemble made its debut performance that same year in Berlin. Members include students at music academies as well as students and graduates at the Baku Academy of Music between the ages of 14 and 25. The orchestra performed at an international music festival in Tuscany in August 2009.
