Young Philharmonic Russia

Russia

The Young Philharmonic Russia evolved from the orchestra at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Most members of the orchestra are young musicians from all over Russia who come to St. Petersburg to study. Others come from a partner music academy in Petrosavodsk, capital of the Republic of Karelia (Russia). Although the musicians are all only around 20 years of age, they already have several years of professional training behind them. The orchestra has worked with renowned conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Vassily Sinaisky, Alexander Titov and Alexander Sladkovsky. The musicians have accompanied many star performers including Luciano Pavarotti during his last concert in St. Petersburg in 2004. The orchestra has taken up numerous invitations to perform in France, Italy and Germany, where it captivated Young Euro Classic audiences in 2003 and 2005 with works by Rodion Schtschedrin, Dmitri Shostakovich, Sergey Prokofiev, Victor Ekimovsky und Pjotr Tchaikovsky.
