Maria Masycheva is one of those promising young musical talents who combines extraordinary technical ability with an expressive interpretational style. Born in 1982 in Moscow to a family of musicians, Maria Masycheva studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Elisso Virsaladze. She has won prizes at many renowned piano competitions, such as the 16th international “Premi Principat d'Andorra” in 2008, the Piano Campus International in Pontoise, France in 2009, and the Piano Open International in Merignac, France in 2009. The same year, Maria Masycheva won the prestigious Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Competition in Paris (Grand Prix and Special Prize of Prince Albert II. of Monaco). In 2010, she won 2nd prize at the Sendai Competition in Japan and at the Geneva International Music Competition, as well as a Berlin Steinway Prize. Maria Masycheva has been widely acclaimed for her playing, and has performed in famous concert venues such the Victoria Hall in Geneva and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Her musical virtuosity, charm and passion have enthralled audiences in many European countries, as well as Israel, Japan, Russia and the US. She often plays at renowned music festivals, for example the German Ruhr piano festival, and the “Un violon sur le sable” in France, where she performed at an open-air concert for 60,000 spectators. Maria Masycheva is sponsored by the Hindemith Foundation and the DAAD, and currently lives in Berlin.
