Young Euro Classic Academy South Caucasus
International
People from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, a triangle of nations grouped around shared borders, rarely meet at music festivals or at a concert as political tensions in the region have set clear limits, not just in political decision-making, but also in cultural exchange. One of the highlights of the Young Euro Classic Festival 2011 is an attempt to present these three highly interesting musical cultures on “neutral” ground. Young musicians from different ethnic groups in the region meet with young talented German musicians in chamber music workshops and concerts, play famous Classical and Romantic pieces together and work on compositions by Gija Kantscheli and Frangis Ali-Sade. The ensemble is also set to premiere commissioned works by Firudin Allahverdi (Azerbaijan), Hauke Berheide (Germany), Narine Khachatryan (Armenia) and Levan Gomelauri (Georgia).
