YOA Orchestra of the Americas

The names and facts associated with the YOA Orchestra of the Americas are more than impressive. Since 2002, the orchestra has played more than 200 concerts in some of the most famous venues in the Americas and Europe, recorded several CDs, made frequent radio and television appearances and been featured in several documentary films. Three levels – artistic, social and educational – define the concert programmes of the YOA, which bring the accomplishments of artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Paquito D’Rivera, Plácido Domingo and Philip Glass as well as the artistic life of the orchestra’s musicians closer to their audience. The 100 members of the YOA come from more than 20 nations on the entire American continent. Costa Rica, Honduras, Ecuador, Canada, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina, the US and other countries are represented in the orchestra with their best young upcoming talent, musicians who are supported by grants. Workshops in schools and solidarity programmes in communities are part of the YOA’s obligatory tour plan. The orchestra was a guest at Young Euro Classic for the first time in 2006, and enthralled audiences in Berlin with its temperament.
