Ungdomssymfonikerne
Norway
The Ungdomssymfonikerne have been regular guests at Young Euro Classic. Most recently, its young musicians presented Scandinavian programmes to Berlin’s audiences in 2006 and 2010. The Norwegian Youth Orchestra was founded in 1973 in order to give young talented musicians of that country a chance to gather their first experiences in a professional orchestra setting. The annual working period lasts for three to four weeks and takes place in Elverum in Southern Norway. Among the international conductors who have led the ensemble are Andrey Boreyko, George Pehlivanian, Kristjan Järvi, Paavo Berglund and Emmanuel Krivine. Outstanding Norwegian artists such as the pianists Leif Ove Andsnes and Håvard Gimse, cellist Truls Mørk and trumpeter Ole Edvard Antonsen have been among the most prominent soloists. In 2000 the musicians appeared at EXPO 2000 in Hanover – and at the premiere of Young Euro Classic.
