Shalom Berlin
Musical encounter project
Israel-Germany
Bi-national encounters among musicians is all part of the Young Euro Classic experience. One of the focus regions in 2010 is Israel – as a symbol of togetherness achieved through musicmaking. Young, highly talented students at the Julius Stern Institute at the Berlin University of the Arts join forces with students at the Jerusalem Music Centre – for the second time since 2008 – to prepare a joint concert programme under the guidance of experienced tutors. The Julius Stern Institute is one of the most prestigious establishments for the fostering of highly gifted musicians in Germany, and the Jerusalem Music Centre is the Israeli pendant. The focus of this project, apart from being an ambitious musical adventure, is to enable students to experience art that truly transgresses borders, in an atmosphere of peaceful understanding and friendship – concerns that are central to the Young Euro Classic Festival. This project is being sponsored by the Ernst von Siemens Foundation for Music.
