The Sinfonia Iuventus orchestra is the Polish response to the concept of a European youth orchestra supported by a national culture ministry. It was founded in 2007, and the following year captivated audiences with its first concerts. More than 70 young artists – graduates and undergraduates at Polish universities – gain initial valuable experience at professionally organised rehearsals and national and international performances in countries such as China, Portugal, Lithuania and Ukraine. They rehearse major works in the orchestral repertoire and work with outstanding conductors and soloists such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Svoboda, Ivan Monighetti and Janusz Olejniczak. With 12 recordings and a documentary film under its belt, the young orchestra has already created a strong musical profile. It performs more than 40 concerts each year nationally and internationally and since 2009, has been a member of the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras (EFNYO).
