MIAGI – “Music Is A Great Investment” – is a dynamic non-profit organisation based in South Africa that has set itself the goal of providing an open door for musicians from around the country.
MIAGI was founded by the tenor Robert Brooks, who returned to his home country in 1999 after spending 20 years in Europe and quickly dedicated himself to promoting South African musicians and singers.

MIAGI’s early development focused strongly on orchestra camps and in 2007 the MIAGI Youth Orchestra and the MIAGI Youth Big Band both moved beyond the Johannesburg Festival to present themselves as highly-talented young ensembles. In 2008 further concerts followed under the direction of Cem Mansur, Patrick Lange and Maxim Vengerov.
The orchestra’s estimated 100 musicians, who are all 23 or younger and come from the widest possible range of backgrounds, are this year meeting for two rehearsal phases.
