The Georgian Sinfonietta was founded in the summer of 2008, and has in the meantime secured the backing of Georgia’s Ministry of Culture. Its members are students in Tbilisi, St. Petersburg and Moscow, with around 30 to 35 concerts taking place during the course of the year. The Georgian Sinfonietta’s repertoire ranges from Bach, Handel and Mozart to Barber, Shostakovich and Hindemith. The ensemble also places special focus on Georgian composers such as Kantscheli, Zinzadse und Matschawariani.
