Beethoven-Academy Orchestra

Poland

The Polish youth orchestra, founded through an initiative of Elżbieta Penderecka, first appeared at the Bayreuth Festival of Young Artists in 2003, and was finally given its official name in the year 2005. The 45 to 80 young musicians come from various music schools in Poland; the ensemble performs around 90 concerts annually. Apart from works by the orchestra’s namesake, programmes always include pieces by Polish composers such as Lutoslawski, Penderecki, Grażyna Bacewicz and other lesser-known composers.
