Baltic Youth Philharmonic
International
The Baltic Youth Philharmonic unites the most promising young musicians between 18 and 29 years of age from all the countries surrounding the Baltic Sea. Under the leadership of Music Director Kristjan Järvi, they have formed a new voice in the north since the orchestra’s founding in 2008, characterized by a unique sound marked by the richness of their various musical traditions. One of the main goals of the orchestra is to promote and present contemporary works by composers from the Baltic Sea region. For example, in 2010 the work parkour musical by Daniel Schnyder had its world premiere at Young Euro Classic in Berlin. In January 2012, the orchestra was honoured as an innovative, trendsetting project by the initiative “Germany – Land of Ideas” under the patronage of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany.
