The people behind Young Euro Classic
Civic Commitment
To create a platform in Berlin for the best youth orchestras from around the world, and to give the new capital a festival – that was the idea that inspired a group of friends to found the “German Circle of Friends of European Youth Orchestras” back in the year 2000 – under the chairmanship of Dr. Willi Steul. These days, the Circle of Friends is more than just the organizer of Young Euro Classic – it feels wholly committed to the festival and the idea that still drives it to this day. A civic commitment that has Berlin quite literally ringing out with music every summer.
Recognition by the State of Berlin
Since the very first year, the Circle of Friends has placed its trust and the responsibility of managing the festival in the hands of Dr. Gabriele Minz GmbH. It was Dr. Gabriele Minz who accepted a State Order of Merit from the State of Berlin on behalf of the Circle of Friends in October 2008.
Artistically Up to the Minute
Young Euro Classic never fails to delight, year in and year out, not just with the skill of the young musicians themselves, but also with bold and unusual musical programs. The festival owes this to a specialist par excellence: the musicologist Dr. Dieter Rexroth is one of the best German-language dramatic advisers, a man whose ideas are quite simply visionary. Dieter Rexroth remains wholly committed to the original idea every year, a festival that is now in its 13th year, Young Euro Classic.
