Young Euro Classic

Tomorrow’s Musicians Today!

Can Brazilians really “only” dance Samba? What does it sound like when young Thais or Arabs perform "classical music”? Young Euro Classic – for symphonic youth orchestras not only the world’s most important festival, but also a place where there is always something new happening. Something unusual. Something that hasn’t been heard yet. And not only that, it’s also a real crowd-puller, with the Konzerthaus almost always totally sold out during the 17-day event. And not just when the ensemble is playing Beethoven, or Shostakovich, but also for concerts of contemporary music or compositions from Asia, Africa or South America. Audiences relish the whole spectacle…

Europe and the World

The 2013 event is brimful of delights from Europe, and this will form the heart of the festival: Seven orchestras from European neighbouring nations, as well as two magnificent orchestras made up of musicians from several countries! But of course, the whole world is set to come to Berlin in 2013 as well. Thailand, for example. Australia. Two of the best youth orchestras from Mexico and Brazil aim to transform the Konzerthaus into a Latin American witches’ cauldron. And yet again, young musicians, vocalists and dancers are set to join forces on the stage…

The Musical Revolution in Detail

A particular highlight of this year’s festival promises to be the Arab Youth Philharmonic Orchestra: Musicians from 10 Arab nations, young men and women, playing side by side, issuing their very own political signal.

Festival Sundays

Alongside the “big” orchestral concerts, we aim to set new trends in motion with small formations and solo performances. The Young Euro Classic Piano Festival devotes an entire Sunday to concerts by young keyboard virtuosos. And the Young Euro Classic Prize Winners' Festival takes place for the first time – 14 concerts in one day, outstanding award-winning talent, in all of the halls of the Konzerthaus!
