Young Euro Classic feiert im 11. Festivaljahr einen neuen Besucherrekord
Mit einem fulminanten Konzert des EU-Orchesters und einem neuen Besucherrekord ist Young Euro Classic am 22. August zu Ende gegangen: Im elften Jahr strömten an 17 Festivaltagen gut 26.000 Besucher ins Konzerthaus Berlin. „Das ist einfach überwältigend“, freut sich Festivalleiterin Dr. Gabriele Minz. „Wir hätten noch viele Karten zusätzlich verkaufen können.“ Allein das eintägige Klavier-Festival mit fünf jungen Pianisten hatte mehr als 3.400 Besucher. Zu den Festival-Highlights zählten das Eröffnungskonzert mit dem Young Euro Classic Festivalorchester Südosteuropa, das Baltic Youth Philharmonic, die Jugendorchester aus Aserbaidschan und der Türkei, aus Spanien und Armenien, aus Norwegen und Deutschland. „Berlin ist in seiner Internationalität genau der richtige Ort, um neue Zuschauer ins Konzert zu holen, die mit Offenheit und spontaner Freude auf die Festival-Programme reagieren“, so der Künstlerische Leiter Dr. Dieter Rexroth. „Es gibt inzwischen ein ganz spezielles Young Euro Classic-Publikum, das offen ist für die verschiedensten Formen. Dieses Festival hat seine eigenen, einzigartigen Gesetze gefunden.“
Festival Orchestra Southeastern Europe
The opening night on 6 August sees a performance by the Young Euro Classic Festival Orchestra Southeastern Europe, which features young musicians from the seven countries of the former Yugoslavia. “Just a few years ago in this region, their parents were still fighting a war against each other,” says Festival Director Dr. Gabriele Minz. “Now the children are sitting next to each other in an orchestra and making music for us! And this is why we are appealing to the generosity of our audience: Become a patron and finance the Festival Orchestra Southeaster Europe with your donation!”
The Orchestras
Berlin will host a series of top-class youth orchestras on 17 different evenings through to 22 August. The musical summer 2010 is characterised by three regions. Apart from southeastern Europe, the Baltic Youth Philharmonic presents itself for the first time with musicians from the countries bordering the Baltic Sea. In addition, three countries from the southern Caucasus region – Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia – and Turkey will also be leaving their calling cards at the Konzerthaus in Berlin. Youth orchestras from Poland, Norway and Spain testify to the diversity of European musical tradition.
The Face of the 2010 Festival...
...is that of Anele. The South African violinist is featured on all our promotional material – from flyers to posters. Last year, Anele and his colleagues from the MIAGI Youth Orchestra were a huge hit with our audiences and had them dancing in the aisles at the Konzerthaus.
