Young Euro Classic Festival Productions
The Idea
By now, orchestras come from all over the world to Berlin to shape Young Euro Classic musically. Over the 13 years of the festival’s existence, an increasing number of productions have been realized by Young Euro Classic itself. After all, music and the musical landscape depend on a multitude of forms, influences and variations – they need new impulses constantly, in order to remain alive. This is the thought that guides Young Euro Classic and its dramaturge and Artistic Director Dieter Rexroth – thus, they have conceived and established very different Festival productions over the years.
For example, Young Euro Classic brings together young musicians from different nations for working phases during which they explore music together, creating something new in the process – works never heard before are often the result. This year, it were South Africans and Germans, Armenians and Turks. In the soloist arena, Young Euro Classic has also given the music scene new impulses. For the fourth time, the Young Euro Classic Piano Festival dedicated a whole festival day to the piano. In 2012, there was also a whole Young Euro Classic Day “All Sound” – experimenting with smaller formations and special formats. Time and again, Young Euro Classic glimpses beyond the familiar fare. “Cinema in the Concert Hall” or the combination of contemporary dance and music are examples of such interdisciplinary productions.
During the coming years, we will continue to innovate, making our contribution to the living diversity of music.
