Do help us with your donnation to realise a very special project at the opening weekend of festival 2012: Music is a great investment – Young Euro Classic & MIAGI 2012 will build a bridge between Classical music, jazz and traditional African music. Young Euro Classic and MIAGI Youth Orchestra of South Africa are joining forces for this project. Both stand for more than mere presentation of concerts: both address young people. Both initiate a dialogue between different musical traditions and facilitate an exchange on equal footing.
To conquer a joint identiy
„The youngsters have to find their own, shared identity. This they find in a combination of Classical music, jazz and African tradition. What used to belong to one group only they now conquer for themselves, adapt it and thus find their own identity“, explains Robert Brooks, the project founder. And thereby MIAGI repeatedly discovers new talent that might have gone unnoticed otherwise, as in the case of the 19-year old Anele, who is considered one of South Africa's leading talents today. Without MIAGI he would probably never have taken up music. It definitely pays out to invest in music.
