From Flashpoint to Fanfare
Just a few years ago, the Balkan region was a one of the world’s major conflict flashpoints. In the autumn of 2009, after the summer anniversary festival at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, we were commissioned by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assemble an ensemble of young musicians from the countries of the former Yugoslavia.
Young musicians whose parents had only just stopped fighting each other.
“One cannot fail to hear the personal stories that resonate in the vibrant shower of semitones,” wrote the Berlin daily newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.

From flashpoint to fanfare. We thought we should give this idea a high-profile spot on the Young Euro Classic 2010 programme. Indeed, the Young Euro Classic Festival Orchestra Southeastern Europe will be performing on the opening night. We need your help again this year to make it happen!

30 € buys a set of sheet music for the string players
50 € pays for a night’s accommodation for a young trumpet player, for example
100 € means a young Serbian percussionist will have something to drum on
250 € covers the travel costs of a young violinist from Slovenia
